Preventive Orthopaedics
What is Preventive Orthopaedics?
A) Osteoporosis Management- It's the decrease in bone density with age which makes the bones fragile and prone to fractures even with a trivial fall or jerk. Spinal vertebrae, Wrist bone, and Hip joint are the most common sites prone to fractures in old age.
Timely diagnosis by doing a simple DEXA scan can avoid such fractures and bone density can be increased with different modalities of treatment ranging from daily oral medication, intravenous drugs, daily subcutaneous injections, or 6 monthly or annual treatments.
B) Healthy Lifestyle- Doing regular exercise daily for at least 30 minutes increased the strength of bones and joints.
